Known for its rendition of the ROC national anthem at President Tsai Ing-wen’s inauguration, Puzangalan Children’s Choir is now in need of your help! Established in 2008 in Majia, Pingtung, Puzangalan (“hope” in the Paiwan language) Children’s Choir is composed of around 40 children from the Paiwan tribe who specialize in performing songs in their native tongue. Since the group’s inception, it has won many national competitions and toured internationally to China, Germany, and Japan.
Puzangalan Choir was scheduled to perform in Guangzhou, China next month and then in Nyíregyháza, Hungary in August. However, due to the attention it received from performing the national anthem in May, China has decided to withdraw invitation for the choir for political reasons. The choir had hoped to use the money earned from the China performance to fund its attendance to the Cantemus International Choir Festival in Hungary this August, but might not be able to make it due to lack of funds.
