Diplomatic Missions in Taiwan

Below is a list of diplomatic missions set up by foreign governments in Taiwan, in English alphabetical order of country name by region. States that don’t officially recognize the ROC (Taiwan) operate de facto embassies styled as cultural and trade offices. These offices are usually staffed by professional diplomats without the official diplomatic titles. Some offices have the authority to grant entry visa into their respective countries or offer consular services. Contact an embassy/consulate in a nearby city outside of Taiwan (e.g. Hong Kong, Manila, Seoul, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore) or your foreign ministry if your country is not represented. Taiwan’s foreign ministry maintains a list of all foreign embassies and offices.

Because of the complex relationship between the People’s Republic of China and Taiwan, the PRC and Taiwan do not have an embassy or any representative office in Beijing and Taipei. The PRC handles Taiwanese affairs through its Taiwan Affairs Office, while Taiwan handles Chinese affairs through its Mainland Affairs Council. The PRC also maintains the semi-official Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, while Taiwan funds the Straits Exchange Foundation, each of which provides limited consular assistance and other services respectively to Chinese and Taiwanese citizens.

Additionally, 香港經濟貿易文化辦事處 Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office and 在台灣澳門經濟文化辦事處 Delegação Económica e Cultural de Macau em Taiwan respectively promotes relationship between Hong Kong and Macau with Taiwan.

Central Tibetan Administration maintains relationship with Taiwan and the Tibetan diaspora in Taiwan through the Tibet Religious Foundation of H.H. the Dalai Lama in Taipei.
