President Tsai Ing-wen is leading a delegation to visit four of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies in the Caribbean: Haiti, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Saint Lucia. The delegation will depart Taipei on July 11 and will return on July 22 with transit stops in the U.S.
President Tsai is expected to meet with the head of state and government of each country. She is also expected to visit aid projects sponsored by Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) in the four countries. The ROC first established diplomatic relations with the Haiti in 1956, with Saint Kitts and Nevis in 1983, with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in 1981, and with Saint Lucia in 1984 (terminated in 1997 and re-established in 2007).
